There is no single answer to this question as there is no agreed upon definition for what constitutes a religion. Evidence suggests that early humans engaged in religious or spiritual practices dating back to at least the Upper Paleolithic period (between 50,000 and 10,000 BCE). However, the first organized religion with a defined set of beliefs, rituals, and texts probably emerged in Mesopotamia sometime in the 4th millennium BCE. That said, Judaism does have the distinction of being one of the oldest continuously practiced religions in the world.<\/p>\n
