Buddhism is a nontheistic religion that is based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, who is known as the Buddha. The Buddha was born in Nepal in the 6th century BC and he lived in India. He taught that the way to end suffering is to end attachment and desire. Buddhist teachings are philosophical and psychological, rather than religious.<\/p>\n

There is no one answer to this question as different people may have different opinions on what god is in Buddhism. Some may believe that there is no god in Buddhism, while others may believe in a god or gods.<\/p>\n

What is god called in Buddhism? <\/h2>\n

Buddhist teachings state that there are divine beings called devas (sometimes translated as ‘gods’) and other Buddhist deities, heavens, and rebirths in its doctrine of saṃsāra, or cyclical rebirth. In addition, the Buddha is often referred to as a ‘god’ in the Pali Canon. However, Buddhists do not believe in a creator god, and their deities are not seen as all-powerful or all-knowing. Rather, they are seen as beings who have attained a higher level of spiritual development and who can help us to reach our own spiritual potential.<\/p>\n

The Three Buddhist Deities Vajrapāṇi, Mañjuśrī and Avalokiteśvara are important figures in the Mahayana tradition of Buddhism. Vajrapāṇi is a protector deity, often depicted holding a vajra (thunderbolt) in his hand. Mañjuśrī is a wisdom deity, often depicted holding a sword in his hand. Avalokiteśvara is a bodhisattva of compassion, often depicted holding a lotus flower in his hand.<\/p>\n
