Dressing up as the opposite sex has been taking place in different forms and in many cultures for centuries. From the modern drag queen and transgender movements, to the transvestite comedies of ancient Greece, cross-dressing has been a part of human history for a very long time.<\/p>\n

Han Christian Andersen, the famous Danish fairy-tale author featured a cross-dressing princess in his story ‘The Princess and the Pea’. This story raised the question of whether or not cross-dressing is a sin from a Christian perspective. <\/p>\n

At its core, the Bible doesn’t specifically mention cross-dressing as a sin, though most Christian denominations agree that it is wrong. Cross-dressing is often associated with vanity, a trait that is discouraged in the Bible. <\/p>\n

The apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth, saying “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God”. This same example can be applied to those who cross-dress. <\/p>\n
