What Is The Place Of Origin For Christianity?

It is believed that Christianity originated in the province of Judea which is located in the Middle East more than 2,000 years ago. According to Jewish and Christian tradition, Jesus of Nazareth was born in Bethlehem, which is located in the region of Judea.

The four gospels of the New Testament, especially that of John, report the teachings of Jesus and his public ministry. After his death, his disciples continued to preach the gospel of Jesus. It quickly spread from the area surrounding Jerusalem to other parts of the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. In the Roman Empire, Christianity was propagated through the mission work of Saint Paul and others.

Christianity is based upon the teachings and life of Jesus as described in the Bible. Many historians, scholars, and theologians recognize that the earliest form of Christianity was a Jewish sect, which is known as the Nazarene movement. The gospel of John refers to Jesus several times as the “Nazarene”, and this Gospel records Jesus’ teaching that “The Kingdom of God is among you”.

The early Christians met in secret gathering places and house churches, which were also known as “catacombs”. As Christianity spread beyond Jerusalem, these catacombs became churches and monasteries for the growing numbers of believers. Gradually, Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire and into other parts of the world.
